TLS or SSL Settings

Account Type: IMAP
User Name: Enter your full email address (example@domainname.com)
Password: Enter your email password
Incoming Mail Server: ssl-domain.bluechannel.com (You will need to replace “domain” with your domain name. Please contact us to verify server name and to activate)
Incoming Port Number: 993
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL (if SSL isn’t available or doesn’t work, select TLS)
Outgoing Mail Server: ssl-domain.bluechannel.com (You will need to replace “domain” with your domain name. Please contact us to verify server name and to activate)
Outgoing Port Number: 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL (if SSL isn’t available or doesn’t work, select TLS)

  1. Open Mac Mail
  2. From the main navigation menu, select Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
  3. From the Account Settings screen, select the email address that you would like to updatemac-mail-account-information-ssl
  4. Incoming Mail Server settings:
    • Incoming Mail Server/Host Server: ssl-domain.bluechannel.com (You will need to replace “domain” with your domain name. Please contact us to verify server name and to activate)
    • Username: please enter the full email address (example@domain.com)
    • Password: Enter your email password
    • Port Number: 993 (you won’t be able to enter this yet)
  5. Outgoing Mail Server settings:
    • Outgoing Mail Server/Host Server: ssl-domain.bluechannel.com (You will need to replace “domain” with your domain name. Please contact us to verify server name and to activate)
    • Username: please enter the full email address (example@domain.com)
    • Password: Enter your email password
    • Port Number: 465 (you won’t be able to enter this yet)
  6. If the Incoming Mail Security window appears, enter the following:
    • Check the Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) box
    • In the Authentication drop-down menu, select Password
  7. Save your changes, and your account should now be updated

 

Updating the Outgoing Port Number and Server Settings

  1. Go to Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
  2. Click on the arrows beside the name of the outgoing server (ssl-domain.bluechannel.com) and select Edit Server Listmac-mail-outgoing-server-arrows-ssl    mac-mail-outgoing-server-edit-ssl
  3. Select the Advanced Tab
  4. Click on outgoing server to select itmac-mail-outgoing-server-settings-advanced-ssl
  5. You should now be able to:
    • Edit the Outgoing port number to 465
    • Make sure the SSL is turned on
    • Make sure you have entered your full email address for the User Name
    • Make sure you have entered your email password
  6. Click on the Done button when you are finished

 

Updating the Incoming Port Number and Server Settings

  1. Go to Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Advancedmac-mail-incoming-settings-ssl
  2. You should now be able to:
    • Edit the Incoming Port Number to 993
    • IMAP Path Prefix: INBOX (make sure this is in all caps)
    • Make sure the SSL is turned onmac-mail-incoming-settings-advanced-imap-ssl
  3. Click on the Done button when you are finished

 

How to set up IMAP Folders

  1. Open Mac Mail
  2. From the main navigation menu, select File -> Preferences -> Accounts
  3. From the Account Settings screen, select the email address that you would like to update
  4. Click the Mailbox Behaviors tab, clear all of the check boxes and close the Accounts window.
  5. When prompted to save your changes, click the Save button
  6. In your IMAP folder, located in the Mailboxes pane (select View -> Show Mailboxes to display the pane if it’s not visible), do the following:
    • Click once on the Sent, Drafts, Spam, or Trash folder
    • Select Mailbox -> Use This Mailbox For
    • Select Sent, Drafts, Junk, or Trash from resulting list in sub-menu
    • The selected folder will disappear from your IMAP list, and will now reappear as the corresponding Mac Mail folder.

Non-SSL Settings

Account Type: IMAP
User Name: Enter your full email address (example@domainname.com)
Password: Enter your email password
Incoming Mail Server: mail.domain.com  (replace “domain” with your domain name)
Incoming Port Number: 143
IMAP Path Prefix: INBOX (make sure this is in all caps)
Use the following type of encrypted connection: None
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.domain.com  (replace “domain” with your domain name)
Outgoing Port Number: 587
Use the following type of encrypted connection: None

  1. Open Mac Mail
  2. From the main navigation menu, select Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
  3. From the Account Settings screen, select the email address that you would like to updatemac-mail-account-information-nonssl
  4. Incoming Mail Server settings:
    • Incoming Mail Server/Host Server: mail.domain.com  (replace “domain” with your domain name)

  5. Outgoing Mail Server settings:

    • Port Number: 587 (you won’t be able to enter this yet)
  6. Save your changes, and your account should now be updated

 

Updating the Outgoing Port Number

  1. Click on the arrows beside the name of the outgoing server (mail.domain.com) and select Edit Server Listmac-mail-outgoing-server-arrows-nonssl mac-mail-outgoing-server-edit-nonssl

  3. Click on the Done button when you are finished
